Lisa is a licensed marriage and family therapist who is passionate about facilitating growth and healing in the lives of people who are hurting, struggling, or experiencing a season of transition. She specializes in working with followers of Christ who want to apply their faith in practical, life-changing ways and experience new freedom and joy in navigating life's challenges and their ability to love and be loved.
One of her great joys is equipping people and witnessing the transformation as they grow in their experience of grace and truth as unique individuals of great worth. She utilizes a variety of research-based and biblically supported treatment approaches to best fit each client’s needs. These include attachment based EMDR, Internal Family Systems, Cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness techniques and Art therapy, proven modalities in working with trauma, anxiety, depression, and addictions. Additionally, she incorporates a holistic self-care approach that includes physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual components.
Professional areas of focus include trauma and abuse, grief, loss and betrayal, pre-marital counseling (Prepare-Enrich), emotionally healthy spirituality, parent/child issues (including adult children) and emotional eating and food addiction.
Her academic training includes an M.A. from Western Seminary in Marriage and Family Therapy and a B.S. in Dietetics/Nutrition from the University of CA, Davis. She has served in pastoral ministry with her husband for over 30 years and worked on a church staff for 11 years prior to becoming a therapist. Lisa currently serves as an adjunct professor for the Western Seminary Counseling program and loves investing in the development of a new generation of therapists. In her spare time, she enjoys gardening, learning about brain health/healing, new cultural experiences, and making memories with friends and family (including her 3 adorable grandsons!).
