Joan is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. She counsels couples at all stages of relationship, always with the goal of building healthy relationships and strong marriages. She also works compassionately with individuals and families who are navigating the challenges of divorce.
In addition to couples, Joan enjoys working with individuals, teens, and families. Areas of interest include trauma, depression, anxiety, addiction, codependency, betrayal, grief, life transitions, women’s issues, and spirituality. Joan is trained in EMDR, a proven method for resolving trauma.
Joan also provides counseling at Community Presbyterian Counseling Center in San Ramon, where she is part of the Sexual Recovery Team, and she is affiliated with the Addiction Recovery Center in San Jose. Both offer comprehensive programs for individuals, couples and the partners of those who struggle with sexual addiction.
Joan received her Master’s degree at Western Seminary in Los Gatos, CA and her Bachelor’s degree from Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY. She worked in the software industry for ten years and has been in ministry for over fifteen years. She is a member of the California Marriage and Family Therapists and the American Association of Christian Counselors. Joan is happily married and has two grown daughters, four stepdaughters, and five grandchildren.
Joan is an occasional adjunct professor in the Masters program for Marriage and Family Therapists at Western Seminary in San Jose and co-leads the Boundaries class at Cornerstone Fellowship.
$140 per hour
Joan does not directly bill insurance companies, but is happy to provide superbills you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. She would be considered an "out of network" provider.
